Graduate Diploma in Risk Management

Objectives

The Graduate Diploma of Risk Management provides a general introduction to risk management as it is applied across all disciplines. Courses for the program are offered by the Faculties of Science, Engineering, and Business. At the end of the Graduate Diploma program students should:
  • Be able to apply the risk management process as described in AS4360 Risk Management to risks of relevance to their organisation.
  • Be able to apply a range of risk analysis techniques to technical and financial issues
  • Have a basic understanding of key insurance issues
  • Have extended there knowledge and uinderstanding of particular risk issues through a choice of elective subjects
Candidates are required to complete 48 UoC for the degree. Students may be given advanced standing for the fundamental knowledge course where these topics have been studied during previous studies. Further Advanced standing may be awarded if equivalent courses have been completed in Graduate Diploma or Certificate Programs completed at another Institution, however a total of 36 UOC must be completed for the Masters Degree.

Elective Courses
Students may select courses from any Faculty providing they can demonstrate to the program co-ordinator the relevance of the course to risk management. A list of possible electives is given with the description of the Master of Science and Technology in Risk Management.
