| Description : | This short course is available to both external fee payers and internal students. Externals can enrol in either short course mode or the full academic credit mode. Increased regulation and new standards, as well as greater awareness of environment protection, means that industry will need to rely increasingly on environmental auditing to systematically manage its impacts. This course covers the basic elements of environmental auditing undertaken by industry with a focus on the ISO19011:2002 QMS/EMS Auditing standard. Students will learn about the different types of environmental audits and the tools required for conducting them.
The principal aims are to identify and evaluate potential environmental liabilities, risks and hazards in industry. A benefit to enrolled students is the ability to potentially obtain a RABQSA International endorsed course certificate by successful completion of either the five-day short course program or the "blended elearning initiative" consisting of a two day program with WebCT Vista support. The main part of the assessment of this course will be a project looking at the application of environmental auditing to industry. The course provider is currently accredited under the RABQSA International Training Provider Accreditation Scheme to provide training and examination for the following competency units: RABQSA-AU: Management Systems Auditing RABQSA-EM: Auditing Environmental Management Systems | | | | | Objectives : | SESC9761 Environmental Auditing was approved to run as a three-day short course in late 2000. The success of the course during 2001 - 2003 resulted in its expansion to five days and its subsequent certification as meeting the training requirements for environmental auditor certification with the Quality Society of Australasia RABQSA (Accredited Training Provider No: 012523, for the period 21 October 2003 - 21 October 2006).
Students/candidates may receive a RABQSA International endorsed certificate on the successful completion of the short course component. Holders of this certificate may be eligible to apply for inclusion on the RABQSA International Register of Certified Auditors, subject to professional experience and academic qualification criteria. | | | |
