Description: : This course examines the treatment and financing of organisational, industrial and personal risks based upon a format following the Australian Standard for Risk Management (AS/NZ 4360). It focuses on the application of various risk treatment concepts to reduce the frequency and severity of risks identified, analysed and assessed using the Standard or other similar methods. The course also introduces the student to the range of risk financing options including the application of commercial insurance and self-insuring options. Risk Treatment offers an introduction to the insurance markets, significant market participants and the range of commercial market products as well as the application of various classes of commercial insurance. The course will introduce the student to risk treatment theory and up-to-date application and will ensure a familiarity with insurance terminology and concepts. A case study format will be used to introduce concepts, which will assist current and future risk practitioners to treat identified risks effectively and efficiently, and use cost-effective mechanisms of risk financing in public, commercial and personal risk contexts.
  
Objectives: :
  • Understand a wide range of risk financing and commercial insurance terms and concepts.
  • Critically apply a risk treatment framework to identified risks in public and private organizations.
  • Identify and select from a wide range of risk treatment options in both business and personal contexts. Ability to develop and a comprehensive risk financing program for an organisation.
  • Identify and apply the skill sets needed to comprehensively treat a wide range of risks in a corporate environment.
  • Develop programs to effectively monitor the effectiveness of risk treatment programs.
