| Description : | Descriptive Statistics provides an introduction to basic statistics concepts for students in final year undergraduate or post-graduate programs of the School of Safety Science. The course emphasises the applied, rather than theoretical aspect of statistics, with students making extensive use of computer software to solve problems. The course covers topics on data analysis, sampling, probability theory and statistical inference. | | | | | Objectives : | To give students an understanding of basic statistical concepts and their application in various domains of science. To familiarise students with various fundamental statistics concepts and their application to the analysis of data. | | | | | Reading : | Set Text

LEARNING RESOURCES |
| The University of New South Wales provides a
range of resources to help students develop their skills and to realise
their full potential.
The Learning Centre, located at the entrance to the
Library provides guidance material, which is also available on-line. |
 |
The University also provides academic orientation
programs called
MyStart and ReStart for both new and returning students to help them
in their transitions into academia.. |
